Practise realistic SCA consultations with structured feedback.
Our AI Patients are designed to help you practise naturally, build confidence, and review your consultation performance in a clear and supportive way once the case has finished.
Choose how you want to practise
- You can browse the full case library through AI Patient Selection, choose a random case from the portal page, or open a case directly from links within the written cases on SCARevision.co.uk.
- This gives you flexibility whether you want to target a specific topic, work through a particular curriculum area, or simply practise more spontaneously.
Start the consultation
- Once you are on the bot page, choose either Standard or Premium using the tabs beneath the header, then click Start to begin the case.
- Before starting, we recommend reading the information shown below the patient card, as this may contain important details or instructions needed to run the case properly.
Follow the live indicators
- The status indicator in the top-right of the patient card shows what stage the consultation is in, including Not connected, Connecting, Waiting for patient, Talking, Thinking, and Listening.
- Underneath, the microphone and speaker buttons help you check whether your audio is connected and working as expected. These will appear in red, grey, or green depending on their current state.
Review your grading afterwards
- The consultation ends when you click Stop or when the 12-minute limit is reached. Once the case is complete, a grading button will appear below the Start / Stop controls.
- Grading usually takes around 30–60 seconds to complete. You can either wait on the page for the result to appear, or return later to the My Progress section to review previous attempts and feedback.
Credits are the currency used to access the AI Patients. They are purchased on a pay-as-you-go basis through the portal and are then used each time you start a case.
If a consultation is too short, meaning it contains fewer than 10 turns, it will be disregarded and no credits will be deducted.
If you do not have enough credits to start a case, a pop-up will appear after clicking Start, prompting you to purchase more.
Standard vs Premium
Both get you practising. Pick the depth that suits your stage of revision.
Standard
High-volume practice at great value. Build fluency fast.
Premium
Exam-near realism with deeper coaching feedback.
Everything you need to know
New to AI Patients? Here's how it all works.
AI Patients are realistic, voice-based consultation simulations designed to help you practise for the MRCGP SCA exam. You speak to an AI-powered patient just like you would in a real consultation — taking a history, exploring ideas, concerns and expectations, and managing the case — then receive structured feedback afterwards.
When you first visit the AI site, you'll be prompted to sign up. Click Join, enter your details, and you're in. It takes about 30 seconds.
Please note that this site uses a separate login from the main SCA Revision site at scarevision.co.uk, so you'll need to create a new account here even if you already have one there.
The AI site needs features that Squarespace's built-in membership system doesn't support — things like credit tracking, usage limits, and pay-as-you-go billing. To make this possible, the AI site runs on a separate membership platform. We know it's an extra step, but it means we can offer a much better experience on the AI side.
Yes. Every new account receives 3 free credits — enough to try a Standard case or a Premium case with no payment required. There's no subscription and no commitment.
Credits are the currency used to access AI Patients. A Standard case costs 2 credits and a Premium case costs 3 credits. You buy credit packs through the portal whenever you need more — no subscription, just pay for what you use.
No. If a consultation contains fewer than 10 turns (for example, if you accidentally started a case or had a technical issue), it's automatically disregarded and no credits are deducted.
Credits are checked before you start a case, not during. If you don't have enough credits when you click Start, a pop-up will prompt you to purchase more. Once a consultation is underway, it will run to completion regardless.
Standard (2 credits) is built for high-volume practice. You get domain-by-domain marking (fail / borderline fail / borderline pass / pass), actionable feedback, and links to the full written case and trainer videos. It's ideal for building fluency and working through lots of cases.
Premium (3 credits) adds exam-level realism with faster speech-to-text, 50+ distinct patient voices via ElevenLabs, and a deeper coaching report that breaks down specific consultation skills like cue handling, ICE exploration, and empathy — with examples you can use in your next attempt. Best for final preparation.
If you're early in your revision, Standard gives you the most practice per credit. If your exam is approaching and you want to fine-tune your technique with more realistic audio and deeper feedback, switch to Premium. Many people use Standard for bulk practice and Premium for their final run-through.
Consultations have a 12-minute time limit, just like the real SCA. You can also end the consultation early by clicking Stop at any point.
The indicator in the top-right of the patient card shows the current stage: Not connected, Connecting, Waiting for patient, Talking, Thinking, or Listening. The microphone and speaker icons below will show red (issue), grey (inactive), or green (working) so you can quickly check your audio is set up correctly.
Yes — the consultation is voice-based, so you'll need a working microphone. Most laptops and phones have one built in. We'd recommend using a headset or earphones for the best experience, as it reduces echo and makes the conversation feel more natural.
Yes, the AI Patients work on mobile and tablet browsers. For the best experience, use a modern browser like Chrome or Safari and make sure your microphone permissions are enabled.
Once the consultation ends, a grading button appears. Click it and your performance is analysed across the three SCA domains. Standard gives you domain-level grades and written feedback. Premium adds a deeper coaching report with specific skill breakdowns and examples from your consultation.
Usually 30–60 seconds. You can wait on the page for the result, or navigate away and come back later — your grading will be saved in the My Progress section.
Yes. Every graded consultation is saved to your My Progress page, where you can review past feedback, track your improvement over time, and revisit specific cases.
Check that your browser has microphone permission enabled for this site. You can usually see this by clicking the lock icon next to the URL. Also check that the correct microphone is selected in your device settings, and that no other app is using it at the same time.
Make sure your device volume is turned up and that your browser isn't muted. If you're using Bluetooth headphones, check they're properly connected. The speaker icon on the patient card should be green when audio is working.
If the consultation had fewer than 10 turns before it disconnected, no credits will be deducted. If a technical issue caused a longer session to end unexpectedly, please get in touch and we'll look into it for you.
We recommend Google Chrome or Safari for the most reliable experience. The AI Patients use real-time audio, so an up-to-date browser makes a noticeable difference.
